Shilpa Chitnis, MD, PhD, FAAN, is a board-certified neurologist, who believes in reaching for the best possible outcomes with her patients by empowering through education, compassionate care and open communication. She see patients 18 years and older at the UT Health East Texas Neurological Institute in Tyler.
Dr. Chitnis has a special interest in movement disorders, deep brain stimulation, funtional neurological disorders and botulinum toxin therapy for dystonia. Dr. Chitnis is fascinated by technology, hence the deep brain stimulation, and analyzing clinical signs and profiles to confirm a diagnosis. Dr. Chitnis chose healthcare because she was inspired by great role models, and she would like to see “a healthier society supported by compassionate and dedicated physicians.”
In her spare time, Dr. Chitnis loves to read, play music, cook and spend time with her friends and family. In addition to English, Dr. Chitnis is also fluent in Hindi and Marathi.
Dr. Chitnis is employed as a clinical faculty physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler under the UT Tyler School of Medicine.
